After he graduated from the English Department of Tamkang University in the 1960s, Edward Chen found himself in various fields: trade, real estate, and even shipping. However, it was after his brother, the founder of Risheng Securities, passed away that he discovered his calling in the world of finance.

Taking over his brother’s business, Risheng expanded from securities to banks, investment trusts, and consultation—even lending and customs declaration. He founded Jih Sun Financial Holding Co., Ltd in 2002, with its core business in commercial banking and securities and total assets of NTD339.3 billion, and serves today as its honorary chairman.
