The inspirational entrepreneur has ventured into hospitality, with his Nasdaq-listed Hotel101 Global envisioned to be a truly global presence
The inspirational entrepreneur who founded the beloved Filipino fast-food chain Mang Inasal, Edgar “Injap” Sia II continues to redefine the scale of Filipino business. Now serving as the Chairman and CEO of DoubleDragon Corporation, Sia’s most significant achievements in 2025 have firmly centred on the global expansion of his trailblazing hospitality venture, Hotel101 Global, and the strategic strength of his holding company.
Sia first gained recognition as the founder of Mang Inasal, an affordable rice-and-chicken franchise that quickly expanded to over 500 branches, leading to its 2011 acquisition by Jollibee Foods Corporation and making him the country’s youngest billionaire. Together with Jollibee founder Tony Tan-Caktiong, he co-founded DoubleDragon, a publicly listed real estate powerhouse behind the CityMall chain. In 2023, the duo also launched DragonFi Securities Inc., an online stock brokerage.
The year 2025 marks a pivotal moment in his career. Hotel101 Global made significant progress towards becoming the first Filipino company to list on the US NASDAQ stock exchange, a major milestone for Philippine business. Further accelerating his ambitious target of one million rooms in 100 countries by 2050, Hotel101 Global signed a landmark joint venture with Saudi-based Horizon Group in May 2025 to develop up to 10,000 hotel rooms across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Fuelled by real estate sales and successful hotel operations, DoubleDragon Corporation reported a 44 per cent surge in consolidated net income during the first half of 2025. This strong performance was complemented by a successful PHP 9.1 billion bond issuance in February 2025 and the strategic acquisition of a 35 per cent stake in MerryMart Consumer Corp, ensuring long-term synergy within the growing DoubleDragon ecosystem.

Did You Know?
Sia got his nickname “Injap” from childhood. It is a portmanteau of two slang words: “intsik”, referring to Chinese immigrants, which his father was, and “jap” because his mother was half-Japanese. Sia turned the derogatory term into a source of pride, leaning on this moniker taken from the two enterprising cultures to create an identity of his own.
