Edgar "Injap" Sia II

Founder and Chairman, Mang Inasal, DoubleDragon, and MerryMart

The inspirational figure with a food and property empire takes on stock brokerage

Edgar “Injap” Sia III is the chairman and CEO of DoubleDragon Properties, a listed real estate company developing the CityMall mall chain. The company has also expanded into hospitality and seeks to expand Hotel101 across North America and Europe, particularly in Spain.

He is also known as the founder of Mang Inasal, an affordable unlimited rice-and-chicken franchise that grew to more than 300 branches nationwide. This success enticed the fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corporation to buy out Mang Inasal in 2011, making Sia the Philippines' youngest billionaire.

Sia teamed up with Jollibee founder Tony Tan-Caktiong for DoubleDragon Properties, which has been expanding aggressively throughout the Philippines. In 2023, they opened another joint venture, DragonFi Securities Inc., an online stock brokerage platform that aims to provide reliable and secure trade executions for Filipinos.

Among his many hats, Sia is also the chairman of DoubleDragon Properties’ subsidiary, MerryMart, which has continued to invest throughout and after the pandemic. With a formidable partner in Tan-Caktiong, business expansion is inevitable. The Philippines’ youngest billionaire has no plans of backing down: “I plan to continue my entrepreneurial journey, as I believe that carefully built sustainable businesses are hard to do but worthwhile... the positive impact [they] create to society [are] highly transformative over the long run.”

Injap Sia got his nickname “Injap” from childhood. It is a portmanteau of two slang words: “intsik”, referring to Chinese immigrants, which his father was; and “jap” because his mother was half-Japanese. Sia turned the derogatory term into a name of pride, leaning on this moniker taken from the two enterprising cultures to create an identity of his own.
