Chairman, United Daily News Group

Duncan Wang continues to innovate United Daily News Group amidst changing times

As traditional newspapers were starting to shed circulation numbers, Duncan Wang, then-president of UDN, realized that the company needed a massive strategy readjustment. And so by 2010, the desks of the United Daily News and its website merged to create a newsroom.

Actively promoting digital convergence, Wang made moves to expand its reach beyond publishing the news. In 2013, UDN TV was launched on cable television, and in 2016, United Digital Cultural and Creative was established. The Vision Project, a major campaign initiated on the company’s 60th anniversary, sought to transform media into an instigator of social change instead of being a mere witness. At UDN’s 70th anniversary last September 2021, Wang expressed his intentions for the company to take on even greater social responsibilities, including the 17 United Nations SDGs, in order to do its part for the sustainability of the Earth.
