Dr Veena is living her childhood dream of joining the Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) team right in her own backyard of Penang. Helping refugees, migrants, prisoners and other vulnerable populations has been her focus since her high school days, and presently, she’s committed to providing healthcare that targets unique health problems associated with social issues like poverty and lack of education. Years of medical research and humanitarian work have taught Veena the importance of self-care and a work-life balance, and this year, she’s on her way to completing a yoga teacher training course to enhance her medical practice with the knowledge and techniques of yoga.
