Dr Rebecca Wong has been a medical teacher for the past 18 years and is currently a professor of physiology and head of preclinical sciences at SEGi University’s Faculty of Medicine. Wong’s research interests include stem cells, leukaemia and medical education, and her remarkable work in the field has made her expertise highly sought after.

She has 47 published works—including her recent research paper on mesenchymal stem cells that was published in The Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry & Neurosurgery—that have been cited over 3,000 times by researchers worldwide. Wong is among the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists by Stanford University in 2022, appearing for the third time on the list.

She is frequently invited to speak at medical conferences here and abroad. The Covid-19 research paper on stress, depression, anxiety and coping styles among Malaysian university students that she co-authored this year won Best Oral Presentation Award (as co-author) at the 13th Global Conference on Business and Social Sciences and Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award (as co-author) at SEGi International Conference on Business, Environment, Sustainability and Technology.
