For her compassionate, driven approach to treating patients with HPB cancers
She is a highly accomplished hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgeon based in the Philippines. She specialises in liver, pancreas, and biliary surgery, including complex cancer surgeries and liver transplantation. Dr. Teh has held significant leadership roles, including being the first woman to chair the Department of Surgery at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) and serving as Chief of the Section of HPB Surgery at Makati Medical Center. She is a founder of the Philippine Association of HPB Surgeons and was the only woman among the founding members of the International Laparoscopic Liver Surgery Society. Additionally, she established the Samahang Magmamahal sa Atay foundation to support indigent patients and young surgeons in HPB surgery training. Dr. Teh is recognised internationally and was the first Asian woman accepted into the prestigious Society of Surgeons Les Compagnons Hepato-Biliaires.
