Executive Director and CEO, Chinachem Group
Architect and property developer Donald Choi has been executive director and CEO of Chinachem Group since 2018. He previously spent 17 years at fellow property company Nan Fung development, rising to managing director; and before that eight years as a partner at architecture firm Foster and Partners. He was the authorised person in charge of the development of Hong Kong International Airport Passenger Terminal and other infrastructure projects at the airport.
Choi also takes on a dizzying range of public roles. In 2021 he became president of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and in 2020 he assumed the same role at the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design; while he is also a board member of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, convener of the Greater Bay Area Urban Designer Alliance, a board member of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Business Environment Council, and a global trustee of the Urban Land Institute. He was also the chief curator of the Hong Kong exhibition at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale Hong Kong, and has been the chairman of the Architects Registration Board.
