Diani Lee

Diani Lee’s style—feminine but not saccharine, structured but not stiff—is born of a great comfort with and understanding of herself. She knows what she likes and what she feels good in, and that understanding translates to clothes that are instinctively her: soft lace, structured suiting and always, a touch of the equestrian.

“I would say that I am comfortably consistent,” laughs Lee. “Stylish but not necessarily fashionable because I know what works for me and what doesn’t, and I tend to stay rather loyal to what just works. I love good fits and cuts and I really appreciate a well-made garment with good material. And if I really like it I will have it in multiple colours or even buy the same exact thing when it wears out. I have many pieces that are over ten, 15 years old and they still work for me.”

There were some sighs of envy when Lee pulled out the looks she’d brought to the shoot: sky blue Chanel tweed, the sharpest Louis Vuitton blazer, cloud-like lace ruffles. But none of these impressive garments dominated or overshadowed Lee’s own style–they worked in tandem to achieve her unique style, even alongside her riding boots.

“I love vests, gilets, structured jackets and corsets!” she says. “One gives room on the body and the other takes it in; both flatter. A bit like my take in life as well—a balance of give and take.”
