In her first six months as vice mayor of Panglima Sugala in the Philippines’ far south, Dayang Iman Sahali passed progressive ordinances related to gender, economic growth, public health and peace. She runs social enterprise Mangan by Iman, which provides employment making seaweed chips, with proceeds going towards local children’s education. She has also helped to build a trading centre for farmers and the unique floating Tongbangkaw Sailing School.
