The property expert gives sound advice about the post-pandemic trends in real estate

David Leechiu is a top commercial real estate broker with very impressive achievements: 27 years in real estate, arranging the lease of more than a million square metres of office space and selling more than US$2 billion worth of property.

Before finding success, Leechiu worked various jobs and even tried going into the buy-and-sell business. He eventually got hired by property specialist, First Pacific Davies (FPD) Savills. Though it didn’t last long, with FPD shutting down due to the economic and political instability of the early 2000s, it became a turning point.

His boss offered to sell the business for a low price. Leechiu, together with his father-in-law and a colleague pooled their money and bought FPD, which became Leechiu Associates. From then on, Leechiu grew his listing along with his client base. Today, Leechiu is considered an expert in the real estate ecosystem, sought out by landlords, tenants and builders for his advice.

“We are fully aware of the problems and challenges of this country [there are many!]. That is why we are just cautiously optimistic. [Our position is] driven by facts, including but not limited to the OFW remittances, BPO industry, tourism and President Marcos’ Build Build More infrastructure programme.”
