David Jou

Co-founder and CEO, Pomelo

Edgy, but relatable. Sassy, but tasteful. Under David Jou’s management as CEO, Pomelo has become one of Thailand’s most popular digital fast fashion brand. The brand does everything from design, material sourcing and trend research, to delivery service. After successfully raising some of the biggest rounds of venture capital in the country, his company now has offices in Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore, catering to customers in 44 countries from their cross-border Hong Kong warehouse. This international venture comes naturally to David, who was constantly on the move as a child, between America, Germany and Korea. When he was studying at Amherst College Massachusetts, he launched his first company The Boxing Co. in 2003, which provided shipping and storage services for American university students. After graduating, David worked at Bain & Co. in New York, and then transferred to private equity investments with New Mountain Capital, New York. “Though both incredibly rewarding and prestigious, my itch to start a business drove me to start looking at more entrepreneurial opportunities.” Prior to launching Pomelo’s, he co-founded the immensely successful Lazada Thailand, so it’s no surprise that he enjoys the competition, challenge and adventure of building a regional brand.
