David Hilman

David Hilman is the Chief Operating Officer of Agung Sedayu Retail Indonesia (ASRI), whose interests span residential property, malls, hotels, cinemas and food courts, all with a focus on premium lifestyle brands. The company’s developments at city centres in Jakarta host well-known multi-national brands like Uniqlo, H&M, Zara, ACE Hardware and Starbucks as tenants.

Under Hilman’s supervision, ASRI expanded into cinema, which comes as no surprise given he was the founder of cinema chain Blitzmegaplex (now CGV Cinemas). Hilman also founded Flix Cinema, one of the company’s curated lifestyle projects, alongside its array of food-and-beverage businesses, Dotonbori Foodtown and Food Park.

Hilman is also part of the distinguished Gen T Tribe, and alongside heavyweights in other industries in Asia formed a panel who advised Tatler Asia in the nomination and vetting process for the Gen T List in 2020.

Prior to ASRI, Hilman had a background in IT and engineering. He started his career at Hewlett-Packard (HP) in Oregon, USA. In 1989, returning to Indonesia, he worked with Shell Oil companies, spending ten years with the energy giant in Jakarta, The Hague and London.
