Founder and chairman, Philharmonic Radio Taipei
Founder of the first classical music radio station in the Chinese-speaking world
Dave Hsia established Philharmonic Radio Taipei in 1995 as the first classical music radio platform created by a Chinese-speaking founder. Over nearly three decades, it has remained Taiwan’s and Greater China’s only dedicated classical music station, with a record nine Golden Bell Awards, setting a milestone in Taiwanese broadcasting. As of 2024, marking its 30th year, Hsia’s station continues to influence Taiwan’s classical music education and media landscape. Through radio programming, books, concerts and lifestyle products, Hsia has made a profound cultural impact, enriching listeners’ aesthetic sensibilities and spiritual well-being.
In 2024, Hsia also introduced an ESG initiative to champion the concept that “culture leaves no carbon footprint”. Through promoting Cultural Social Responsibility (CSR), he aims to foster a vibrant, multicultural society in Taiwan, encouraging growth and shared cultural values.
“No one is perfect; we’re only 99.7.”
