Dato’ Sri Akbar Khan is the executive chairman of Bandar Raya Development Bhd (BRDB) Group of Companies, an acclaimed property brand involved in property development, management and investment. The low-profile Singaporean businessman who was previously known to be involved in the luxury fashion and goods industry, became a major shareholder of BRDB Group through Ambang Sehati Sdn Bhd.

The property company, which is well known for its developments in Bangsar and as the owner of Bangsar Shopping Centre, also has developed luxurious homes and commercial building in Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Iskandar Malaysia including Troika, 6 Capsquare and Emerald Bay. The group also has developments in countries such as Australia, UK, Oman and Pakistan.

Khan is married to former Malaysian singer Datin Sri Camelia Khan who is the deputy chairman of the group and share a daughter together.
