Dato’ Sri Meer Habib

Dato’ Sri Meer Habib has helmed Habib, Malaysia’s premier jewellery house, since 1986. Steering the company founded by his late father, Habib Mohamed, he spearheaded its transition from a wholesale operation in Penang into a retail powerhouse, opening its first Kuala Lumpur store and introducing trademark masterpieces that established Habib as a household name. Under his leadership, Habib achieved major milestones, including becoming Malaysia’s first public-listed jeweller in 1998 (later returning to private ownership) and expanding its portfolio with global brands such as Pandora, Les Georgettes, Oro Italia and Stephen Webster.

Beyond commercial growth, Habib has championed cultural enrichment and community initiatives through Yayasan Habib and Harta Space, a museum and art gallery dedicated to showcasing traditional Malaysian jewellery archives alongside fine art. In January 2026, he fulfilled a long-held family aspiration with the official declaration of the RM30 million Masjid Habib in Penang as a district mosque, extending the group’s philanthropic legacy.

Continuing to evolve the retail landscape, Habib introduced minimalist gold lines aimed at younger demographics alongside the Songket Reimagined Raya collection in early 2026, capturing record consumer demand for physical gold. Expanding Habib’s physical footprint, he opened a new three-storey flagship store on Jalan Bunus in Kuala Lumpur on April 2026, offering an elevated retail experience centered on bespoke craftsmanship, heritage and personalised service.
