Daryl Yang became a campaigner by accident, when a 2014 letter he wrote defending government guidelines that spoke positively of LGBTQ experiences went viral. His advocacy soon extended into other areas, and while at university he helped establish the Community for Advocacy & Political Education, a student-run organisation that campaigns on a diverse range of civic causes, and aims to provide avenues for Singaporeans to participate in civil society.
