Darren Teoh is the chef-patron of Dewakan in Kuala Lumpur, a restaurant that celebrates Malaysia’s indigenous produce and culinary heritage through innovative, sustainability-driven cuisine. Guided by his philosophy of storytelling through local ingredients, Teoh continues to shape Malaysia’s fine-dining landscape with creativity, integrity and purpose.

Under his leadership, Dewakan has earned numerous accolades, including being listed among Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants and receiving Malaysia’s first Michelin star in 2022—later elevated to two stars. In 2024, Dewakan became the first and only restaurant in Malaysia to be awarded the Michelin Green Star for its pioneering commitment to sustainability, from championing local farmers to minimising waste. The following year, Dewakan marked its 10th anniversary, reaffirming its role as a beacon for modern Malaysian gastronomy rooted in place and principle.
