Plant-based food has been a massive growth area for the past few years, but many of the new products introduced have been made in labs and are of questionable nutritional content. Karana, the company Dan Riegler co-founded with Blair Crichton, set out to do something about that, instead creating plant-based meats that exploit the naturally meaty textures of other foods. Case in point: its first product, a jackfruit-based pork alternative.
