Senior Consultant/Chairman, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, National University Hospital

 

At the forefront of research into infectious diseases, the National University Hospital’s Dale Fisher leads efforts in fighting Covid-19

Prof Dale Fisher was part of the World Health Organization team to China, tasked with investigating aspects of what became known as Covid-19, in February 2020 during the early onset of the pandemic. He is the Senior Consultant from the Division of Infectious Diseases, as well as Chairman of Infection Control, at the National University Hospital, and also Group Chief of Medicine for National University Health System (NUHS). His research interests include infection control, outbreaks and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy.

Outside NUHS, he also chairs both the National Infection Prevention and Control committee, and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network steering committee.

Fisher completed his specialist training in infectious diseases in 1992 through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, mostly at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Then he worked for more than a decade at Royal Darwin Hospital in infectious diseases and general internal medicine, before moving to Singapore in 2003.
