Clement Chew

Managing director, Atlas Solutions

Clement Chew’s Atlas Solutions is levelling up the protection market in the region

Clement Chew founded and heads Atlas Solutions, one of the only close-protection training schools and centre for the provision of UK-accredited close-protection officers in Asia, serving Fortune 500 companies, royal families and ultra-high net worth individuals.

Initially intending to build a career in the banking or private equity sector, Chew studied economics and later obtained a master’s degree in international development. It only took him so far as interning in a private equity firm, for him to realise that the career path was not meant for him.

With a desire to branch out, he joined the security industry—first working as an event-security officer in football stadiums and other venues in Manchester, UK, and eventually moving to door-supervision and other protection work around the country. When Chew returned to Malaysia, he served as an analyst in the government body Pemandu, helping with national security as well as the detecting and prevention of organised crime.

He eventually left to establish Atlas Solutions, essentially creating a market that did not exist before—the provision of high-quality protection detail for multinational corporations and VIPs. Today, Atlas Solutions has offices in Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia.
