Chef Claude Tayag goes by many occupations, all of which the Pampanga native has excelled at thanks to his prodigious command of art. Whether it’s creating masterpieces on the plate or canvas, Chef Tayag has the ability to weave a complex web of cultural significance that explores what it means to be Filipino.

Tayag’s prowess in both gastronomy and artistry has been a staple throughout the years — both locally and worldwide. His award-winning restaurant Bale Dutung has been a Kapampangan force to be reckoned with, making it to the list of World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ “Essence of Asia” collection. He himself has also been featured in the legendary food series No Boundaries by the late gastronomist, Anthony Bourdain. In 2016, Chef Tayag was also honoured with the People’s Choice Award at the Embassy Chef Challenge for manifesting rich Filipino food heritage through his bringhe.

Internationally-acclaimed with a penchant for cultural fidelity, few can match Chef Tayag’s calibre in Philippine gastronomy—especially as he continues to, quite literally, bring more to the table.
