Christine Hakim is a well-respected Indonesian actress with nine Citra Awards from the Indonesian Film Festival under her belt. The latest Citra that she earned was in 2020 for Best Supporting Actress in the Movie Perempuan Tanah Jahanam. With her award-winning career spanning 50 years, Christine is famous as the "grande dame of Indonesian cinema". Among the classics she has starred in, some of the iconic ones include Badai Pasti Berlalu in 1977, Tjoet Nja’ Dien screened in the 1988 Cannes Film Festival and Pasir Berbisik in 1998. Christine garnered a broader, younger audience when she starred in the Hollywood movie Eat Pray Love opposite Julia Roberts. Her other international ventures include being a jury at Cannes Film Festival in 2002 with David Lynch, Sharon Stone, and Michelle Yeoh.
