The new DOT campaign highlights the Philippines’ culture, history and diversity

Ma. Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco leads the Philippine government’s Department of Tourism as its secretary, taking office in June 2022. A lawyer by profession, Frasco began her political career as mayor of Liloan, Cebu, serving from 2016 to 2022.

Frasco comes from a family that is politically prominent in Cebu. Her mother is Cebu governor Gwendolyn Garcia, while her grandfather Pablo Garcia, the clan's patriarch, served as vice-governor, governor and three-term congressman. Frasco’s husband, Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, represents the fifth district of Cebu and the deputy speaker of the 19th Congress of the Philippines.

Frasco was awarded the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Regional Award by the Civil Service Commission in 2021, recognising her “proactive initiatives” on innovation in governance and sustainable programs fostering excellence in government service.

Since taking office as Tourism secretary in June 2022, Frasco launched the new tourism campaign Love The Philippines, replacing the decade-old It’s More Fun in the Philippines campaign. While the launch was criticised, Frasco has remained firm in her decision to retain the slogan.

In her personal life, Frasco has been married to Duke Frasco since 2009. They have four children: Sofia, Liam, Franco, and Xavier.
