E-commerce pioneer and CEO of Shopee Chris Feng is also tackling the fintech sector

Chris Feng is chief executive of Southeast Asian e-commerce giant Shopee, which was launched in 2015 as an offshoot of gaming company Garena (now known as Sea Group). Feng is also CEO of Seamoney, the firm’s digital payments and financial services division.

Shopee has grown exponentially since its debut, announcing ambitious expansion plans as it aims to capture a larger slice of the global e-commerce market. The firm has made forays into Latin America as well as Europe, launching in Poland, Spain and France, and is reportedly planning to establish itself in India. Shopee reported a turnover of US$35.4 billion for 2020, double that of the year before.

Before he took up his current role, Feng headed Sea Group’s mobile game business. Prior to joining Sea, he was part of German incubator Rocket Internet’s Southeast Asia founding team, establishing online businesses such as Zalora and Lazada. He also served as regional managing director at Zalora and was Lazada’s chief purchasing officer.
