Acclaimed violinist Cho Liang Lin continues to wow audiences and engage the next generation of musical talent

Taiwanese American violinist Cho Liang “Jimmy” Lin is one of the classical music world’s most beloved and active instrumentalists, having recorded over 30 albums and appearing with almost every major orchestra in the world.

For 18 years, he served as the music director of the La Jolla SummerFest in California, developing its reputation as the preeminent chamber music festival and inviting musicians from all over the world to play music from different centuries. In 2018, he bowed out from La Jolla to focus on launching the Taipei Music and Academy Festival, an immersive experience for talented young musicians aged 15 to 30 to learn from and play side-by-side with world-class faculty.

As a teenager, Lin studied with the renowned teacher Dorothy DeLay at Juilliard in New York, making his public debut at the Lincoln Center at 19. He is a known champion of contemporary composers, commissioning new works from Tan Dun, John Williams, Steven Stucky, Joan Tower, and many more.
