Shining Building Business Co., Ltd. was founded by Cheng Yi Lai in 1990, first in the tourism industry and then later entering into development, sales and leasing endeavours. Lai relies on a “one-whip” management method, from land development, planning and design, construction management, pipeline technology, planning and marketing, and finally to after-sales service.

Besides his position as founder and chairman of Shining Building, Cheng Yi Lai is also the chairman of Shining Construction, The Lalu Hotel, Ting Lin Investment and Development and Kuang Yue Investment & Development. He also leads the Shining Culture and Education Foundation. Lai was also a past chairman of the Taiwan Tourist Hotel Association.

In 2022, Shining Building Business Co. revealed plans to launch housing projects worth NTD30 billion in Taiwan and China. Lai also revealed that the company is launching a presale of a housing project in Changua County, conveniently located one stop from the Taichung high-speed rail. The project has 238 apartment units that could generate NTD2.8 billion in sales.
