Golfer
When Cheng Tsung Pan won the RBC Heritage, his first career PGA tour in April 2019, it was victory tinged with the bittersweet, since his father wasn’t alive to see this dream come true. Pan credits his early love of golf to both his parents, who introduced him to the game at the age of five. His mom was a caddie at a local golf course, while he and his dad witnessed on TV how Tiger Woods, a then-21-year-old multiracial golfer, become the youngest person to win the Masters.
His father’s directive to “do that one day” followed him over the years as an amateur golfer at the University of Washington and when he turned pro in 2015. Pan almost missed his chance at the RBC Heritage due to a scheduling conflict, but his wife Michelle insisted he join the tournament. He listened to his wife, and he won. While he has yet to win a Masters, Pan earned a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
