Chen Jie

Born in the 1980s, Chen Jie established Jie Newtattoo tattoo workshop in 2005. She is a fan of female Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, who combined her paintings with the nature and culture of Mexico. Much like Frida Kahlo did with her own culture, Chen incorporates elements of Chinese culture into her tattoo works, namely ink painting. Because of the stunning beauty and distinct cultural features of her works, Chen Jie became popular on Instagram and has attracted nearly 300,000 followers from all over the world. In 2017, Chen collaborated with Nike on their The Force is Female campaign which celebrated the strong women shaping their culture and inspiring their communities.
