Some might remember the businessman's five-month tenure in 2014 as the Coordinating Minister for Economics, substituting for the incumbent who resigned due to competing for the presidential election. The majority would remember Chairul Tanjung as the CEO of CT Corp., a company with three sub-holdings, Mega Corp., Trans Corp., and CT Global Resource. Under these are numerous subsidiaries, including banking, media, fashion, retail, and property, such as Bank Mega, Trans TV, Hugo Boss, Transmart, and Trans Studio. Chairul gained wider public acknowledgement with Trans TV, which is considered a breakthrough in Indonesia’s broadcasting media. Moreover, he is known for a sharp instinct in banking. In 2021, he bought the digital-based Allo Bank, which has profits steadily climbing. The dentist school graduate is ranked no. 9 on the 2020 Forbes Indonesia’s 50 Richest. He has two children, with the oldest, Putri Tanjung, the CEO of Creativepreneur Event Creator.
