Tan Sri Cecil Abraham is one of Malaysia’s foremost counsels, recognised as one of the most effective arbitrators and litigators with a track record in successfully handling complex disputes. Abraham has expertise in a wide variety of sectors and industries, and is the only Malaysian regularly appointed by the government to serve on the Panels of Arbitrators and Conciliators in international investment treaty disputes.
A law graduate of Queen Mary College, University of London, Abraham was called to the bar of Middle Temple and in 1970, was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. In 2020, the senior partner at Cecil Abraham & Partners marked 50 years of practice in corporate, commercial, environmental, maritime law, as well as banking and securities.
Abraham has achieved more than 300 reported decisions. Besides handling many of the leading cases in Malaysia, he has also represented high-profile clients including former prime minister of Singapore, the late Lee Kuan Yew, as well as several Malaysian prime ministers.
