The CEO of PathFinders Hong Kong is dedicated to supporting children born to migrant mothers
Catherine Gurtin is the CEO of PathFinders Hong Kong, the charity dedicated to supporting children born to migrant mothers. Since arriving in Hong Kong in 2014 from Singapore, Gurtin has focused on addressing the needs of some of the city’s most marginalised communities. Under her leadership, PathFinders has worked tirelessly to protect unsupported children and empower their mothers by educating them about their rights.
The organisation intervenes during crises to provide nurturing care and ensure that children receive essential early childhood development support. It also educates and empowers migrant domestic workers (MDWs) about their maternity rights, helping them make informed decisions. Ultimately, Pathfinders Hong Kong pushes for systemic change by advocating for policies and solutions that protect pregnant MDWs and their children.
“The chance to give my experience, time and passion to serve some of the most marginalised children in Hong Kong has brought me an enormous sense of purpose and fulfilment,” she said to Tatler.
Before her tenure at PathFinders, Gurtin spent seven years with Save the Children, serving as a consultant project manager for its Asia Regional Office and later as COO for Save the Children Hong Kong. Her career began in the corporate sector, where she worked for more than ten years in communications and public affairs, including a role as associate director at Pfizer.
