Gymnastics trailblazer and Olympic champion, inspiring a new generation with skill and poise

A trailblazer for Philippine sport, Carlos Yulo has become synonymous with excellence in artistic gymnastics. Having made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics as the first Filipino athlete to capture two gold medals—one in the men’s floor exercise and another in the vault the very next day—Yulo has continued to soar.

In 2025, he reaffirmed his status as a global powerhouse at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, seizing gold in the men’s vault and bronze in the floor exercise. These victories further cement his legacy as not only a two-time Olympic champion but also one of the sport’s most consistent and decorated performers.

Yulo’s glittering career includes multiple podium finishes: two golds, two silvers and three bronzes at the World Championships; ten golds, two silvers and a bronze at the Asian Championships; and an astonishing nine golds and two silvers from the Southeast Asian Games.

His journey began in Manila, where he trained for Palarong Pambansa as a young prodigy. With support from the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, Yulo moved to Japan in 2016 on a scholarship to train under coach Munehiro Kugimiya—a partnership that has transformed him into one of the sport’s finest.

From a bronze at the 2018 World Championships in Doha to his world title in Stuttgart in 2019 and his Olympic triumphs in Paris, Yulo continues to redefine what’s possible for Filipino athletes on the world stage.
