Carlo L Katigbak

President, ABS-CBN Corporation

Leading a multimedia behemoth in the face of insurmountable odds is no small feat

They say that you can never keep a good man down; consequently, you can never keep a company down if it has a good man leading it. Such is the case of ABS-CBN Corporation and its president Carlo Katigbak.

Despite incredible odds, the network continues to thrive under Katigbak's leadership. He capably led the charge towards using new media, maximising the company's digital assets and powerful online presence to remain relevant and appealing to viewers and consumers alike. He recognised the need for high-quality content and decided to push the envelope further by catering to local audiences and reaching out to global markets through streaming media platforms and international partnerships.

Over the past couple of years, ABS-CBN produced a television series geared primarily toward those in North America, and a film selected for global distribution by Sony Pictures. For Katigbak, these were enough to get the show on the road—and he isn't stopping for anyone. Recently, ABS-CBN sealed a new content deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, allowing the network to bring some of its lifestyle content to more audiences in Central and Southeast Asia.

“We have every confidence that the Filipino can produce content that resonates with a global audience,” he says. “We have the creative, performing, and production talent to tell stories that touch people's hearts worldwide. There is nothing more exciting to us in this industry than to see the Filipino succeed on the world stage.”

“If we are successful at becoming world-class creators, our market is no longer just the Philippines but the rest of the world.”
