Carl Pei made his name as the co-founder of low-cost smartphone handset maker OnePlus, which he left in 2020. The following year, he launched consumer technology company Nothing, which then debuted its first product, the Ear (1) earbuds, followed in 2022 by the Phone (1) handset. The company has attracted US$141.8 million in funding from investors including iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Reddit CEO Steve Huffman.
