Entrepreneurial interior designer Candice Chan Chao heads J Candice Interior Architects, a leading interiors firm that has worked for a wide range of prominent Hong Kong names in entertainment and lifestyle. It counts among its clients the likes of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (where it designed the public betting halls), Happy Valley racecourse (private boxes), The Grand Cinema, Kishoku restaurant and boutique pâtissier Lady M.

With a design style best described as classical elegance with a twist, Chan Chao formerly lived and worked in New York, where she specialised in architectural preservation. The winner of Tatler’s Most Promising Young Woman Award in 2009, she is the daughter of Pauline and Michael Chan, the former long-time chairman of family-owned F&B company Café de Coral Holdings.

Chan Chao has three children with her husband Leonard Chao, a director of real estate investment firm Lechare and the eldest grandson of philanthropist Zhao Anzhong.
