Calvin Sio founded Zence Object to tackle global waste challenges by converting agricultural by-products into commercially viable, environmentally friendly products. Through a pioneering patented technology, it transforms waste including tea leaves, bamboo and Chinese herbs into versatile alternative materials for construction and design. In 2024, he worked with Japanese giant Sumitomo to set up China’s first and only bio-based materials-moulding R&D centre. He has earned multiple accolades, including a DFA Design for Asia Award.
