Cai Xuetong

Snowboarder

Cai Xuetong is part of a new generation of adventurous women in China who love to push the limits. She’s also a leading light in China’s female snowsports team. From a young age Xuetong showed immense sporting talent, so much so that she was spotted by a sports school coach when skating in a park at the age of 10. This marked the start of her sporting career. In 2009, she won gold in the women’s snowboard Halfpipe at the Snowboard Junior World Championship of the International Ski Federation (FIS) in Nagano, Japan, the first gold medal taken by a Chinese snowboarder in the competition. She was admitted to Harbin Sport University in 2010 and her performance prowess escalated. In 2011, she competed successfully in the FIS Snowboard World Cup Halfpipe Finals. In 2014, she ranked in 6th place in the women's snowboard Halfpipe at the Sochi Winter Olympics. In 2015, she won a gold medal in the Halfpipe at the FIS Snowboard World Championship and in 2017, again took the top prize at the World Championships.
