Violinist Vietnam's "Prince of Violin," a leading violinist, winner of multiple international awards, and a leader in musical performance and education activities both domestically and internationally

Bui Cong Duy was born on February 2, 1981, in Hanoi into an artistic family. His father is Professor Dr. Bui Cong Thanh – a famous violinist, and his mother is pianist Thu Lan. From the age of 4, he studied violin under his father's guidance. At age 10, he moved to Russia with his family to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow) with professors A.V. Gvozdev and People's Artist I.V. Bochkova. He completed his bachelor's degree (1998–2003), master's degree (2003), and a research program in music performance (2005), while also becoming the first foreigner to be a member of the Moscow Virtuosi chamber orchestra.

In 2007, he returned to Vietnam to teach at the String Department – Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM). He currently holds the title of People's Artist, is the Vice President of the Vietnam National Academy of Music (since 2017, the youngest in its 65-year history), Head of the String Department, a Doctor of Music, and an Honorary Professor at the Kazakh National University of Arts (2023). He is also the Artistic Director of the Vietnam Classical Players and the Vietnam Connection Music Festival (since 2015). He won First Prize and the Gold Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Saint Petersburg (Russia, 1997), along with many other prestigious awards in his international performance career, and has trained many young artists.
