Bruce Cheng, the founder of Delta Electronics, is a vanguard of green energy

Delta Electronics emerged in 1971, during a boom in Taiwan’s manufacturing industry. Founder Bruce Cheng noticed how severe environmental pollution was becoming as a result of industrialization, and how the rapid increase in demand led to energy shortages. Cheng believed that energy conservation was the way forward, and made it the company’s corporate mission to provide energy-efficient solutions. Delta became the world’s largest provider of switching power supplies and extended its product lines to LED lighting and solar energy systems.

In 2012 Cheng retired after 43 years and made his son Ping the CEO, but still comes to the office every day to work on sustainability issues. Delta has since ventured into manufacturing components for EVs and was the only Taiwanese company to be invited to participate in the in the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. On its 50th anniversary in 2021, Delta recommitted to promoting energy efficiency and lowering carbon emissions.
