Screen icon Brigitte Lin’s career has spanned decades across Taiwan and Hong Kong cinema, where she has starred in over 100 films. The award-winning Taiwanese actress has conquered Chinese cinema not only with talent but also with her unconventional choices. At a time when breaking gender stereotypes was unusual, she played male characters, androgynous ones and complex female ones. Some of her most memorable performances include Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983), The Other Side of Gentleman (1984), Police Story (1985), Peking Opera Blues (1986) and Ashes of Time (1994).

She is also the author of four prose collections and a passionate Chinese calligrapher.
