Giving up a slick city job to become a farmer is a cliche the tired urbanite perennially yearns for, but Bjorn Low really went and did just that—albeit a little less drastically. Formerly in advertising, the keen gardener brought the farm into the city when he co-founded Edible Garden City in 2012, and surprised himself by having the courage to follow through on an unconventional dream. He and his team have since helped develop over 200 edible gardens for hotels and restaurants, organise educational workshops for schools, and provide employment for the disabled and the elderly. “All businesses, corporations included, can do good if they set their minds to it,” says Bjorn, who deems Mother Nature his greatest inspiration. To unwind, he enjoys tinkering with his fish tank.
