Ricult is a startup that uses machine learning and satellite imagery to help lift farmers out of poverty

Aukrit Unahalekhaka was once a software engineer at Silicon Valley and a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, before returning to Thailand with a deep concern for the welfare of Thai farmers. He co-founded Ricult, a startup that uses machine learning and satellite imagery to help lift farmers in Thailand and Pakistan out of poverty by increasing farm productivity and giving them access to affordable loans. The platform assists in various agricultural activities, from weather forecasting, and scheduling sowing and harvesting times, to monitoring crop fields through satellite imagery. It even connects farmers directly with buyers. More than one million farmers use this system, and its popularity has expanded to neighboring countries.

The company has achieved success in fundraising from leading global investors, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with a valuation exceeding one billion Thai Baht. It has been recognized as a remarkable innovation in agribusiness by the United Nations. Aukrit Unahalekhaka holds a master's degree in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and another from Cornell University.
