The prominent architect displays extraordinary creativity in high-end innovative designs

A reputable figure in Philippine design, Anthony Nazareno serves as the principal architect and designer of Nazareno Architecture + Design (NAD), a firm specialising in bespoke high-end residential architecture and distinctive retail projects. After immersing himself in San Francisco, under the guidance of modernist maestro Jim Jennings, and later in New York focusing on historic preservation, Nazareno founded NAD in 1997.

He is widely celebrated for his expressive, contextual use of texture, materials and light, creating spaces that forge a deeper, emotional connection with the user. This design ethos earned NAD the Best Architectural Concept award at the Tatler Homes Design Awards 2024 for their innovative Casa 39 project, celebrating its unique character and material integrity. Nazareno consistently collaborates with various creatives, including his sister, designer Rita Nazareno, ensuring a holistic vision for every project.

This 2025, Nazareno and his firm’s project, the Shrine of Healing, secured a major nomination for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025. Presented in Miami last November, the project was shortlisted for the highly coveted Small Project of the Year category.

Beyond this international acclaim, Nazareno continues to advocate for biophilic and sustainable architecture, asserting that good design must “respect and work with the environment”. His firm is currently engaged in several transformative, high-impact projects, including the design of two museums (one private and one public) that embody the ideals of architecture married with nature. Furthermore, NAD is nearing completion on a significant architecture and engineering campus building for a private university—a meaningful project dedicated to shaping the next generation of designers—alongside the interior design for a highly anticipated Filipino-Peruvian fine dining restaurant in Manila.
