Anon Pairot

Founder, Anon Pairot Design Studio

The humble cabbage is a source of inspiration for the opinonated designer Anon Pairot, founder of the eponymous Anon Pairot Design Studio (2007). The Mechanical Design degree holder from KMUNTB provides interior design with a focus on sustainability. In addition to his commercial practice for local and international clients, he has worked with the government to promote Thai design. Named Young Designer of the Year at the 2015 Elle Decoration Design Awards, this acclaimed furniture and product designer is proving his worth as an artist and gallerist. In his words, “Design is the art of changing people’s valuation process”, and in extent, their conscience of the quality of life. His thoughtprovoking artwork deals with the value placed on “status symbols” such as fashion accessories, cars, and even weapons. By changing their materials or functions, these objects are repurposed as momentoes of impermanence. For example, his Toyota-Hybrid inspired Christmas Trees (2010) is a sleek, hi-tech production that strips away the excess of traditional decorations to the tree’s basic shape. His recent exhibitions include ‘Chiang Rai Ferrari’ at the 57th Venice Biennale (2017). Anon’s latest venture is Schemata gallery that aims to showcase Thai artists.
