Angkie was born with normal hearing but gradually lost the ability due to medical complications. However, the 1987-born still studied in a formal school and even finished her master’s study in communication. Finding it hard to find employment even with a master’s degree, she faced the harsh reality of how unfriendly the workplace is for people with disabilities. Angkie then founded ThisAble Enterprise in 2011, an employment agency for people with special needs. The social enterprise focuses on assessment, recruitment, training, and placement for those with special needs. Her business went through ups and downs, including a financial loss just as she had her first baby. Angkie managed to get out of the situation by taking a risk, changing the business into an incorporated company after previously holding the status as a foundation. Today, Thisable has various business partners, like GoJek, CIMB Niaga and RaboBank. With Helen Keller as her idol, Angkie keeps fighting for the world with inclusivity, especially in Indonesia. She is currently active among several youths in president Joko Widodo's Special Staff and its Spokesperson for Social Affairs since 2019.
