Born in 1975, artist Andres Barrioquinto's unique painting technique has captivated people around the globe. At a tender age, he showed interest in arts and later pursued formal art education at the University of Santo Tomas.
Barrioquinto has showcased his work in Japan, Singapore and Europe. In 2018, the painter became one of the few living artists who successfully mounted a special exhibition at the National Museum when he launched Portraits. Among his most notable paintings is Procession (oil on canvas), which currently holds the highest auction sale price for the artist at US$359,777.
In April 2022, a comprehensive visual retrospective of his life and work was published by Rizzoli New York, with curatorial write-ups by world-renowned curators and critics such as Demetrio Paparoni, Vargas Museum’s Patrick Flores and Fundacion Sansó’s Ricky Francisco.
Though known for his dark, surrealist style, Barrioquinto believes that art should continue to evolve through time to retain relevance. He is at a crossroads in his career as he considers his next progression into sculpture.
