Mountaineer and skyrunner
The mountaineer climbing to new heights and horizons for women
In January 2026, Anar Burasheva became the first woman from Kazakhstan and Central Asia to complete the Seven Summits challenge, climbing the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents over two years. The hardest was Denali in Alaska, where she endured 10 days at 4,200m and seven days at 5,200m in temperatures reaching minus 50 degrees Celsius. The Seven Summits, however, may prove to be the prologue; Anar has already summited three of the world’s 14 8,000-metre peaks—Everest, Manaslu and Cho Oyu—and is targeting to climb them all.
