The person leading the revolution for batik is Amanda Hartanto, who seeks to modernize the ancient Indonesian heritage into something that is suitable for both traditional occasions and everyday wear. In 2011, she established her label, Amanda Hartanto Batik, where designs ready-to-wear batik with young, chic and sophisticated touches. To mark National Batik Day in 2016, Amanda Hartanto and Oemah Etnik held a fashion show entitled “Batik Tanpa Batas”, featuring 45 ready-to-wear creations, with the support of Galeri Indonesia Kaya, a programme under the Djarum Foundation, and Attack Batik Cleaner, which is a specialized product that cleanses and preserves batik pieces. She has also collaborated with another fashion blogger, Ayla Dimitri twice. In 2017, the duo showcased Amanda’s collection during Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2017.
