Alvin Kwock is the co-founder and CEO of OneDegree, which became one of Hong Kong’s first online insurance companies when it launched in 2016. Best known for its range of pet products, but also offering fire coverage, it designs simple, low-cost products, does away with middlemen, and dramatically simplifies the claims process, providing speedy reimbursement of costs. The company has raised US$58 million in funding across two rounds from investors, including Sun Hung Kai, the Alibaba GBA Fund, and Cyberport Macro Fund.

Before founding the company, he spent 11 years working in a range of management positions for JP Morgan in Hong Kong and Taiwan, including the Asia-Pacific head of technology. He is a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific’s Banking and Finance Task Force, the Hong Kong Insurance Authority’s Future Task Force, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School’s advisory committee, as well as an advisory board member of leading internet of things app Kii.
